Born and raised in Trier, Germany, writer‑director Hannah Bales (b. 1999) grew up around the theatre and musical world. Always fascinated by the magic of storytelling, she began writing early on, drawing inspiration from her surroundings. A psychology degree sharpened her insight into character, but cinema finally stole her focus when she enrolled in the BTS Cinéma Audiovisuel program in 2022. She has since steered festival‑screened shorts, including the 2025 sci‑fi drama Terre Adélie and 2024’s off‑beat Man in Greige, and is now scripting her debut feature which received its first writing fund in December 2024.
